The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) First Aid and Prehospital Care team together with the Hospital team worked with Ukrainian colleagues to translate and deliver Mass Casualty Incident Training in Dnipro 23rd – 25th March.
Participants were from three hospitals in the Donetsk region together with Prehospital Emergency response team specialists, representatives from the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, Donetsk Regional Department of Health, the Regional Centre for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine and the Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Center of Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine of the Ministry of Health in Kiev. Over three days they worked on developing their hospitals’ and prehospital services’ capabilities and capacities to respond to mass casualty incidents including the utilization of standard communication tools, triage tools and action cards. Progressively complex mass casualty EMERGO table top exercises culminated in a large mass casualty incident which generated an integrated coordinated response.
